DEATH OF O. A. EAMES.

Was Interred in Palestine Cemetery on Sunday.

Special to the Journal.
Huxley, Sept. 30--O. A. Eames died last Friday from pneumonia at an age of nearly 64 years. He had made his home with Elias Johnson, southeast of town. He was ill only about a week, but nothing could be done for him. The funeral took place from Palestine church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Shefveland officiating.

Last November they moved to Polk county and have made their home with Mr. Johnson. Three weeks ago he began to fail gradually going down until Friday afternoon when he departed this life to cross the solemn river of death. To those who were around him he had stated that his Savior was near and he was going home. While confined to his home all of the time the deceased had been quite a reader of the word of God.

Mr. Eames was born near Stavanger, Norway, Dec. 15, 1844. He came to America in 1866 and located at Leland, Ill. After a few years he moved to Radcliffe, Ia. In 1882 he married Valjer Holmedahl, and to that union were born two children, Josephine, who died two years ago, and Anna who is attending the State Normal school at Cedar Falls.

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, two brothers, one of whom was present, and a sister from South Dakota who was also present. While Mr. Eames was a stranger to most of us here, he seemed to be of a pleasing temperament and patient in his suffering.

A couple of years ago Mr. Eames fell on the ice and injured himself to the extent that he became crippled and had to use crutches. He was injured a second time and cure seemed impossible. He was also poorly otherwise.
