Obituary from Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, Iowa.

Kenneth Gale Richardson, the youngest son of Eldon and Beulah (Fish) Richardson began his journey in life on October, 6, 1942, in Ames, Iowa. His younger years were spent in Maxwell, Iowa.

On July 21, 1974 he married the love of his life, Sandy Poynter Barrick. Shortly after their marriage, he adopted Sandy’s daughter, Rhonda Rae, loved her and raised her as his own. Their union was also blessed with two sons, Rustin (Rusty) Eldon and Ryan Arthur. Kenny and Sandy raised their family on a small acreage in Dickens, Iowa until they moved to Spencer, Iowa in October 2018, when Kenny’s health started declining.

When he wasn’t working for Massey Ferguson or Dickens Co-op or Perry Judd’s making a good living for his family, Kenny could be found in his shop. He loved spending time on the acreage raising animals and crops, remodeling, repairing or building. Being a great mechanic he could fix anything with whatever he might have on hand. He would readily admit he was not a carpenter, but wasn’t afraid to tackle remodeling projects on their acreage over the years.

More blessings came later in Kenny and Sandy’s life in the form of their grandchildren. Andrew Robert and Kendra Nicole were born to Rhonda and her spouse Tom Allen of Boone Iowa. Madelyn (Madi) Sue, Joseph (Joe) Paul and Levi Ryan were born to Ryan and his spouse Holly (Haller) of Roland, Iowa.

Many happy memories were created over Kenny and Sandy’s almost 45 years of marriage. A lot of them were created by spending time with children and grandchildren either on their acreage or on camping trips by a lake, on a pontoon with a fishing pole or around a campfire.

Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Beulah, his mother and father-in-law Paul and Lucille Poynter, sister Janet Hooper, sister-in-law Phyllis Poynter, and sister and brother-in-law Katy and Bob Smith.

Kenny taught life lessons to his children and grandchildren by example in the way he lived his life. He was an inspiration to all who watched him struggle with health issues and losses during the last few months of his life. He never complained and took what came with dignity and grace, knowing that his Savior in heaven was in charge and the outcome would be great. He met Jesus on June 20, 2019. His surviving family and friends are left to cherish his memory and are counting their blessings for having had him in their lives.
