Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Arlene Jacobson, 96, of Story City died June 23, 2019 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Thursday June 27 at 10:30 am at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will follow in the Story City Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the serviced at the church.

Arlene was born on April 3, 1923 in Slater, Iowa to Arnie and Randie (Halverson) Twit. She married Joe Blackburn in April of 1945. He died October 31, 1946. Arlene then married Bernie Jacobson on April 7, 1955. He died April 24, 2002. She was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a nurse for Story City Schools and later as a substitute mail carrier. Arlene was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, bird watching, gardening, camping and music. Her great joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Randi Jo (Al) Schoening of Huxley; a son, Greg (Jill) of Jewell; four grandchildren, Jon (Martha) Schoening, Jessica (Grant) Simpson, Brett (Brittney) and Christopher (Brooke) Jacobson; three great grandchildren, Dylan, Stella and Josephine; three step great granddaughters, Dusty, Nicole and Amanda and two step great-great grandchildren, A.J. and Connor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Joe Blackburn and Bernie Jacobson; two brothers, Hubert and Everett Twit and a sister, Gladys Williams.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
