Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Charles “Charlie” Fouts, age 88, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Israel Hospice Care Home in Ames, Iowa.

He was born February 2, 1935 in Lompoc, California to Lorrin and Jeannetta (Dearinger) Fouts. After his father's death he resided in Albia, Iowa. He graduated from Albia High School in 1949 and attended college in Evanston, Illinois. He then entered the Air Force in 1951. He served in Germany and Turkey as a Radar Evaluator until 1955 where he made lifelong friendships. After his discharge he enrolled at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa and graduated from the School of Journalism. He returned to Albia and worked for Sears Co. and Chamberlain Corporation. He then moved to Ames, Iowa and worked for McDonald Corporation. He enjoyed his many friends, traveling, art, music, cooking and good wine.

Charlie is survived by his sister Anita Hendrickson (Dave), St Joseph, Missouri, nephew Mark (Mindy) Paige and Mattie, Waterloo, Iowa, Stuart (Jaci) Luke and Auggie, Saint Louis, Missouri, Sarah (Mike) Lockert, Birmingham, Alabama, Olivia (Casson) Campbell, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Nick Lockert, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Saint John's by the Campus Episcopal Church with Rev. Kim Turner Baker officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. A luncheon will follow the service. Per his wishes, Mr. Fouts has been cremated and he will be interned at Saint John's by the Campus Episcopal Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for the family at www.adamssoderstrum.com. Memorials may be made to Saint John's by the Campus Episcopal Church, Israel Hospice Care Home or charity of their choice.

Charlie's family would like to extend our gratitude to all the loving people who cared so much for and enjoyed Charlie.
