Obituary Of Otis W. Kepler

Otis W. Kepler, 84, passed away in Des Moines, July 19, 1952 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Scott, 1211 Pleasant street. He had been very ill for several months and had suffered from a heart condition for some years.

He was born in Stanhope. He married Ida Mae Bute in 1899. Their parents were pioneers of the Stanhope vicinity. To this union two children were born, Floyd D. Kepler of Glendale, Calif. and Letha M. Scott of Des Moines, who survive.

In 1938 he and his wife moved to Nevada. Just two years after buying their home in 1940, Mrs. Kepler passed away in her sleep with a coronary heart attack.

In 1941, he moved to Marengo with his daughter and husband where Mr. Scott taught in the high school there for seven years. Mr. Kepler again moved to Des Moines in 1948 when the Scotts opened a convalescent home.

He was the last of a family of eleven. He loved people and showed it in every way possible. His personality was easily remembered because he was kindly and interested in all with whom he came in contact. he was a true neighbor and a Christian friend to all who needed his help. He was a devoted father leaving cherished memories.

Guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. George La Frentz, Mrs. Helen Brooks, all of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Paul S. Wallerick and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey L. Kepler, all of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mr. Kenneth Nelson and girls and Mrs. Estella Nelson all of Staples, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Snyder and Mrs. Elmer Andrson, all of Nevada.
