Gale White
July 9, 1915, to Oct. 8, 2002

Gale White, 87, of Kelley, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 8, from respiratory arrest.

He was born July 9, 1915, at Maxwell, to Francis Marion and Gennettia (Reagan) White. He married Alice Gardner on Feb. 26, 1933, at Maxwell. He had worked in Des Moines at Diller Battery and also as a security officer at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames for many years. He served in the south Pacific with the Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Garden Prairie United Church of Christ, the VFW and Slater American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter, Gennettia Coon of Redding, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Judy K. White of Kelley; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice, on Aug. 18, 2002; a son, Marion Everett White in 1984; a great-grandson, Jacob Morgan; six brothers, Glenn White, Ralph White, Lem White, Asa White, Bill White, John White; and five sisters, Martha Green, Lorena Griffith, Anna Kirby, Pauline Griffith and Lola Davis.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Garden Prairie United Church of Christ with the Rev. Walter Rehberg and the Rev. Phil Davis officiating. Burial was in the Maxwell Cemetery. Military honors were given at the cemetery by the Slater American Legion Post 260. Memorials may be made to the Slater American Legion and to the Building Fund of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ. Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell handle arrangements.
