Funeral Services Held for Dan Smith

Maxwell, Feb. 8--Funeral services for Dan Smith 86, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Cooper's Funeral Chapel.

The prayer service was in charge of the Rev. R. G. W. Collins, pastor of the local Church of Christ.

Mrs. Miles Cook and Mrs. C. I. Kirk sang, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me, " "The End of the Road," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," with Mrs. Ned A. Pearson at the organ.

Pallbearers were Basil Caple, Rollie Pearson, E. L. Wood, Ned Pearson, Ray Robertson and C. B. French. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Burial was made in the Peoria cemetery.

Rev. Collins read the following brief life sketch of the deceased,

Daniel Joseph Smith, son of Robert Howard and Martha Smith, was born at Brixton Hill, England in 1856 and passed from this life January 28, 1942 at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Smith came to America with his parents when only 18 months old. He was married to Cordelia Randlet November 2, 1892. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Mable Vasey of Des Moines and Bryan Smith of Maxwell.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife and two children; one brother, M. E. Smith of Maxwell; eight grandchildren, Robert Vasey, Claude Vasey, Marjorie Vasey, Mrs. Evelyn Weaver, Mable Smith, Dorris Smith, Virginia Smith, and Juanita Smith; and two great grandchildren, Robert Vasey and Ronald Weaver.
