THE PASSING OF AN AGED PIONEER

MRS. MARY MORGAN, 87, HAD LIVED IN COLO SINCE EARLY IN 1870

Mrs. Mary Morgan, an aged resident of Colo, died at her home, September 1, 1927 at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Mrs. Morgan was born Mary Fox at Delhi, Ohio, March 23, 1840. At the age of five with her parents she came to Illinois and there grew to womanhood.

September 8, 1861 she was married to Wm. S. Morgan. Eight children were born to this union, two, Ella and George died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Morgan, with their family came to Colo in 1870, among the early pioneers and have resided here ever since having a prominent part in the building of the community life. He preceded her in death May 5, 1909.

Early in life Mrs. Morgan gave her life to God and has ever lived an earnest Christian life always ready to give a ----ful word or kindly helping had to those in need.

While caring for her own large family she always found time to aid others in sickness or sorrow. To meed her was to love her and realize her sweet character for no evil word of anyone ever passed her lips.

In recent years he children have urged her to come and live with them, but she preferred to keep her own home so her children could always come home to visit Mother which privilege they enjoyed. Of a family eleven children she was the last to pass.

She leaves to mourn their great loss five daughters and one son, Mrs. Ida M. Talbott, Mrs. Jennie E. Perry, Mrs. Cora A. Bales all of Colo, Mrs. Mary M. Sawtell an Mrs. Anna M. Allen of Zearing and Wm. H. Morgan of Ralston, Iowa, also 19 grand children, 16 great grand children and two great great grand children.

She was a member of a Wesley Free Methodist church but enjoyed fellowship of both churches of Colo always attending services as long as her health permitted.

Mother will be missed but not forgotten. Her life will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones inspiring them to so live that they may some day meet again in that better land.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p. m. from the -. E. church in charge of Rev. Park M--- assisted by Rev. Bamford and Rev. Stark while the music was provided by a quartette Ms. Clyde Danskin, Mrs. Minnie Hull, Roy Miller and Ross King. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ross King and Mrs. Roy Ginter.

The pall-bearers were Alva Gearhart, Geo. Granger, Henry Dewey, Humes Cummings, Dr. J. N. Cozzens, Wm. Hemping.

Among those from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Morgan and family of Ralston, Iowa, Mrs. Re-a Presba, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cummings, Mr.a nd Mrs. John Heintz, all of Dunkerton, Iowa, Clarence and Elmer Cummings, Oelwein, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Lo--- Armstrong, Albert Lea, Minn, Mrs. J. M. Bales, Mrs. Harry Dimmock, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Benfer, Marshalltown, Mrs. Ezra Bamberger and Miss Mary Bamberger of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Sawtell, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Alen, Mrs. Norton, Mrs. -- --- ---, Mrs. John Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allen, Mr. and Mrs. T. G. -----, Mr. and Mrs. - - Wilkins all of Zearing, ---- and Mrs. Floyd Bales of ----------burg.
