OBITUARY

MRS. MARSHALL MONTGOMERY

Martha Campbell, was born in Indiana county, Penn., Aug. 7, 2837. With her family she removed to Illinois about 1860. At El Paso in that state she became the wife of M. W. Montgomery on the ninth day of February, 1865. Five children came into this home, two of whom have passed away--George, who died in 1892 when eleven years old, and Mrs. Lottie Fry whose death occurred in 1908. The other three sons are still living, two of them, Charles and Archie in this community, and Frank in Mason City.

This family remained in Illinois until about 1892 when they came to Iowa, settling on a farm in Milford township. In 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery now quite advanced in years came to Nevada and began to reside in the house which has ever since been their home.

During the past few years Mrs. Montgomery has necessarily been much confined to her home because of her impaired vision ad also on account of injury received in a fall. However even with these handicaps she neither asked for desired special assistance in her work but maintained her own home to the best of her ability until but a short time ago when the vital forces suddenly gave way. She gradually weakened and after a brief period of waiting without suffering or pain, and attended by the loving care of her family, she passed away on Sunday morning, March 16, 1919 at 3:15.

A brother of Mrs. Montgomery resides in Wichita, Kansas, and three aged sisters are still living, one in Chicago, another in El Paso, Ill. and a third in South Dakota.

Thirty years ago Mrs. Montgomery united with the Presbyterian church at the old home in El Paso. Upon the removal of the family to Iowa they became members of the Methodist church and she continued in the membership of this church until her death.
