Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Arthur Joel Saveraid, age 86, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019. Art was a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, and a consummate farmer and businessman.

Born Friday, April 14, 1933, at home in Story City, Lafayette Township, Iowa, Art lived on a farm all of his life. He was confirmed in 1946 at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa, and graduated in 1951 from Huxley High School. Art graduated from Iowa State University, attended Drake Law School, and raised his family on a 70-acre farm in Huxley, Iowa.

Art loved restoring tractors, making home-made ice cream, attending farm auctions, and spending time with his family.

Art was preceded in death by his parents J.O. Saveraid and Eva (Satterlee) Saveraid, brothers Kenneth E. Saveraid, Herbert D. Saveraid, Paul J. Saveraid, daughter Linda J. Saveraid, granddaughter Chelsey M. Gentry, sister-in-law Lorrie C. (Rullestad) Saveraid, niece DeAnn L. (Saveraid) Shaffer, and nephews Craig A. Saveraid and Michael D. Roberts. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife Marilyn W. (Shearer) Saveraid, daughters Cynthia S. Delavara, SherRee L. (Brad) Allen, Kristin K. (Darin) Kite, Julie A. (Ronald) Gentry, and Jill E. (Jeff) Karch, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Janet A. Roberts, sister-in-laws Shirley M. (Blink Wilson) Saveraid, Katherine R. (Vespestad) Saveraid, and 11 nephews and nieces.

A family gathering will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Tx., and a graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tues., May 28, 2019, at Palestine Lutheran Church cemetery, Huxley, Iowa. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater and online condolences may be left for the family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
