John G. Scott Dies Very Suddenly of Heart Attack

John G. Scott, 75, lifelong resident of Story county and for many years an active farmer of Grant township, passed away very suddenly, following a heart attack on the corner of Main and Lincoln avenue, Thursday evening about 8 o'clock.

Immediately upon his collapse a physician was called and he was given first aid but it was realized that the end was near and he was removed in an ambulance to the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. R. Fred Nelson, 1124 Tenth street, where he died shortly afterwards.

The children were called and arrangements for the funeral and burial were made. The funeral is scheduled for Monday morning at 10:30, at the Morfoot funeral home, after which the body will be accompanied to the Evergreen cemetery at Iowa Center for interment.

Mr. Scott, born in Illinois November 15, 1867, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Scott, came Story county as a small child and the family settled on a farm north of Cambridge, in the southwest Grant township, and in that community he lived and was to become one of the very prominent and active farmers and horsemen of the county.

Following the passing of his second wife, Mr. Scott retired and moved into Nevada, where he spent the balance of his life. While he spent most of his time here in an apartment in the Henrehan building, he was a frequent visitor at the homes of the step-daughter, Mrs. Nelson, in Nevada, and with his daughter, Mrs. Cline near Kelley and his son Ray Scott of near Cambridge.

He leaves his son Ray J. Scott of near Cambridge, daughter, Mrs. Mabel Cline of near Kelley and the younger son, Glen Scott of Fort Dodge.

Mr. Scott was a man who had a wide acquaintance over the county, gained during his more active days, and was held in very high regard by a wide circle of acquaintances.
