Plummer Purviance Dies at His Home In Collins Tuesday
Plummer Purviance, 95, died Tuesday afternoon at 2:50 p.m. at his farm home one-half mile east of Collins.
Purviance was born June 16 1870, at Hennepin, Putnam County, Illinois, the youngest of five children of John and Rachel Purviance. At the age of ten years, the Purviance family moved to Dysart, Iowa.
Purviance was a retired farmer. He also was a carpenter, rural mail carrier and Assistant Postmaster.
He has been a resident of Collins for the past 40 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mercie Wear of Collins and several Nieces and Nephews.
Purviance was preceded in death by his parents, (1) brother, (3) Sisters and his wife, Maggie, who died in 1952.
Funeral services will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Friday morning at 10:30 with the Rev. Ronald Dakin of the Collins Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Collins.
A memorial fund has been established.
