Rites in Green Mountain For Mrs. Laura Hill
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Green Mountain for Mrs. Laura Hill, who passed away Sunday morning at the at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Turner in Colo. The services were held at the Congregational church with her pastor, the Rev. Homer Doaks, assisted by the Rev. Otto Hoffner in charge.
Music was provided by a men's trio.
The many beautiful flowers were cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gerke, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Phares and Mr. and Mrs. P. Gobell.
Casket bearers were grandsons of the deceased and were Lawrence Henninger, Leslie Henninger, Forest Turner, Arthur Turner, Richard Hill and George Hill.
Obituary
The following obituary was read by the officiating pastor:
"Laura Isabelle Hill, daughter of Jonathan and Marie Hill, was born near Lanark, Ill., on Dec. 9, 1862. At the age of seven years she came with her parents in a covered wagon train to Cass county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She taught school for some time after attending college at Dexter, Iowa.
She was married to Arthur H. Hill on Aug. 26, 1886, at the home of her parents, near Massena, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Hill spent most their married life at Green Mountain with the exception of nine years spent in North Dakota and two years in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On July 1, 1948, they came to make their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Turner at Colo. Mr. Hill passed away on Nov. 25, 1948.
In 1946, Mr. and Mrs. Hill celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Hill was a member of the Congregational church, the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society and the W.C.T.U. at Green Mountain."
Survivors
Mrs. Hill is survived by one brother, Bert Hill of Battle Creek, Mich., one son, Charles Hill of Clear Lake, one daughter, Mrs. J. N. Turner, 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. The oldest daughter, Mrs. C. G. Henninger passed away in Minneapolis on June 6, 1947.
Relatives attending the rites were from Minneapolis, Princeton, Minn., Clear Lake, Merservy, Ames, Ventura, Marshalltown, Zearing and State Center.
