Obituary from the Roland Record, Thursday, July 15, 1920, page 5.
Mrs. John J. Sevde was born in Sovde, Norway, on April 14, 1833, and died at her home in Roland on Sunday, July 4, 1920, being 87 years of age at the time of her death. She came to this country in 1857 and a year was united in marriage to John J. Sevde at Lisbon, Ill. Shortly after their marriage they emigrated to Story County, settling first on a farm southwest of town. Here they lived until 1904 when they moved to Roland. She is survived by her husband, John J. Sevde, and three children, John Sevde of Beeler, Idaho, Mrs. J. J. Sandvig of Thor and C. T. Sevde of Graetinger, all of whom were present at the funeral, and nineteen grand children and eight great grand children.
Mrs. Sevde was a woman of true Christian character and died the way she had always lived, in the faith that her Saviour had prepared a place for her in the Heavenly home. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Salems church.
