Obituary from Dignity Memorial, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa.

Phyllis Beth (Hogg) Scott went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27th, 2019, in Des Moines, IA. Phyllis was the daughter of Farris D. and Letha Mae Hogg (Kelley). She was born on January 7th, 1950 in Ottumwa, IA. Phyllis was united in marriage May 23rd, 1970 to Richard Samuel Scott by Stephen Stilwell and Ronald Abbas in Ottumwa, IA.

Phyllis is survived by two sisters: Stephen & Evelyn (Hogg) Stilwell of Trujillo, Peru, and Andrew & Wanda (Hogg) Barnes of Corsica, France. She has 4 children; Melody Riskedahl, Rose Marie (Kevin) Scott-Slater, Daniel Scott, Kelley (Heather) Scott. Phyllis is survived by 6 Grandchildren and 2 step-Grandchildren. Phyllis is proceeded in death by children Samuel Richard and Rhoda Anne, and her parents.

Phyllis attended Ottumwa High School and graduated in 1968. Phyllis and Richard met at Faith Baptist Bible College from 1968 – 1970 and continued her collegiate journey at Des Moines Community Area College in 1994. After receiving her AAS degree as an Administrative Assistant, Phyllis worked for the Children and Adult Food Program. She eventually worked in the Story County Dental Program, where she worked tirelessly to strengthen and expand the program to help low-income families.

Phyllis loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in her childhood. Phyllis shared her faith in her service to others. Phyllis taught Sunday School, led Bible Studies, directed Vacation Bible School, and guided women’s groups in the church. She enjoyed honoring the Lord with music, singing and playing the piano up until the end of her life. Phyllis was a unique soul that truly loved selflessly, patterned after Christ’s love for her. The greatest treasure in Phyllis’s life was her family and she left a heritage of unconditional love for those she cherished. We rejoice to know that Phyllis is with the Lord, and this is but a temporary separation from our beloved wife, mother, sister and nana. Visitation will be held on April 1, 6-8PM at Ankeny Funeral Home in Ankeny, IA (1510 W 1st St). Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 2 at 10:30am at Faith Baptist Church of Cambridge, IA (401 2nd Street). Interment Service will be held April 3 at 10:30am in Lone Pine Cemetery, Putnam County, MO.
