Sandra "Sandy" Cakerice, 80, of Ames and formerly of Whitten, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Accura Heathcare in Ames.

A celebration of life will be held for Sandra on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials in Sandy’s name may be directed to her family. Sandra Jean Amundson was born on May 14, 1938 to parents Russell and Doris (Beeman) Amundson. She attended school at Union – Whitten and graduated from high school with the class of 1956. On June 17, 1956, she was united in marriage to Dwayne Cakerice at the Methodist Church in Whitten. Dwayne and Sandra were married for 62 years. They raised two children together, Janelle and Scott. In her free time, she enjoyed cross stitching, making greeting cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted Duke Blue Devil basketball fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dwayne; children Janelle (John) Goar of Kennewick, WA and Scott (Ruth) Cakerice of St. Ansgar, IA; grandchildren Renea (Larry) Wamsher, Ryan (Kim) Cakerice, Eric (Becky) Goar, Bryce (Terra) Goar; great- grandchildren Madelyn Cakerice, Landon Cakerice and Nathan Goar; step-grandchildren Mikaylah, Marandah and Montana Scott; and brothers Lyle (Vickie) Amundson, Bill (Pat) Amundson.

In death, Sandy rejoins her parents Russell and Doris Amundson.
