H. W. Bates Died at Early Hour Today

Henry W. Bates, 82, resident of Story county since 1864, died very suddenly from a heart attack at the Story county home today at 7:45 a. m.

Mr. Bates who had not been well for some time, but who had been up and about the house before the heart attack this morning, had returned to his bed and fatal stroke came.

The body was brought to the Bishop Funeral home in Nevada and funeral services will be held there Saturday afternoon at 2:30.

Mr. Bates, a native of Michigan, where he was born 82 years ago came to Iowa with his family when a lad of 12 years and this had been his home since.

He lived upon one farm southeast of Nevada for 37 years, after which he moved into Nevada and this had been his home since.

He leaves two sons and one daughter. The sons are Clarence Bates of Nevada and Harold Stevenson of Traer, while the daughter is Miss Birdie Wall of Nevada.
