Mrs. James Gilchrist Dies In Ames; Was 66

AMES -- Mrs. James H. Gilchrist, 66, died here Sunday morning in the Mary Greeley Hospital where she had been ill since June. Death was due to cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Adams Chapel with Rev. Robert Pinnell of the Ames Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Municipal Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Adams Chapel.

Mrs. Gilchrist was born in Nevada on April 25, 1891, the daughter of Ira and Jennie Allen. She was a graduate of the Nevada high school. She married James Gilchrist on Sept. 7, 1910 and had lived in Ames since that time.

Surviving are three sons, Robert of Lubbock, Texas, Allen of Grand Marias, Minn., and Rex of Ames; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Kunel and Mrs. Mary Spurrier of Ames and Mrs. Jean England of Des Moines. She also leaves 15 grandchildren.
