Aug. 25, 1916, to Dec. 25, 2001

Peg G. Tichenor, 85, of Nevada, died from complications of a stroke on Tuesday, Dec. 25, at Story County Long Term Care, Nevada, where she had been a resident since Jun 1993.

She was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Hardin County to Guy and Mae (Eaton) Perisho. She attended Marshalltown Community College and married Carlton B. Tichenor on Dec. 8, 1940, in Mason City. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada and Bowlerina Bowling League. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking and playing Yahtzee and Farkel and watching football and auto racing. She was a lifelong resident of Nevada and Zearing area.

Survivors include two sons, Gary (and Cathy) Tichenor and Dennis (and Kat) Tichenor of Nevada; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Higgs of Ankeny.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carlton on April 8, 1993, seven brothers and two infant sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 29 at the First United Methodist Church with Diaconal Minister Brenda Hobson officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Run Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada handled the arrangements.
