Ludwig Kopf Dies Suddenly

Ludwig Kopf died last night at his home on the corner of Chestnut street and Third avenue south, at about 10:30 o'clock. Tho not in good health, he had been about, had walked around the block during the evening. On coming in he complained of not feeling well and lay down for a while. Mrs. Kopf was near, arranging for his comfort when he gasped and was gone. The funeral will be at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Summit cemetery. An obituary will follow in our next issue.

LUDWIG KOPF

Ludwig Kopf was born in Wittenberg, Germany May 11, 1845. When 21 years of age he came to America settling in Polk county not far from Maxwell. Here he married Isable Little. Six children were born to them four of whom are living near. They are Julia Garlock living south of Maxwell, Martin J. of Nevada and John William and Sarah Alderman living south of Nevada. The mother passed away March 19th 1897. On September 25th 1899 Mr. Kopf married Mrs. Nancy Ikehorn who survives him. He leaves also a sister at Maxwell and a brother who lives in California. Mr. and Mrs. Kopf remained on the farm until two of three years ago when they bought the little home in Nevada where he died suddenly on Thursday evening of May 28th. The funeral was held on Sunday at 2:00 p. m. at the Methodist church, Rev. Stauffacher of Center Point officiating. Mr. Kopf was a member of the Evangelical church but had attended the Methodist church since coming to Nevada. The writer first knew him when teaching in the district school near his home in Polk county. He was a good husband and father and friend, a conscientious christian, loyal to his church and enjoying the services in the German tongue which were held at the little school house. Particularly we recall the song service and his helpful part in it. His family have the sympathy of their many friends.
