Martin Kopf Died at Home of Sister Early This Morning

Martin J. Kopf, lifelong resident of central Iowa died this morning at 1:30 at the home of his sister Mrs. Julia M. Garlock, southeast of the city, in the Mullen settlement.

Heart trouble and dropsy was the cause of death, Mr. Kopf having been a sufferer from these afflictions for many years.

While he had been failing for some time he was not taken to his bed until a few days before his death and he passed away very peacefully when the end finally came.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, the service being in the Nevada Evangelical church at 1:30 after which interment will be at Pleasant Run or the Summit cemetery.

The deceased was born a son of Ludvig and Isabelle Little Kopf, in north Polk county, near the present site of Farrar, sixty years ago, May 17.

The family lived in that locality until about 1894 when they moved over into Story county, settling on a farm in the Mullen settlement. The parents are now both dead, as is one sister, Mrs. Floyd Alderman and the two younger children who died in infancy.

Those surviving are Mrs. Julia M. Garlock, with whom he had made his home for the past two and the brother J. W. Kopf of the same neighborhood.

Mr. Kopf came to Nevada probably twenty years ago engaged in the trade of a watchmaker. He carried a small line of jewelry at time, but much of the time depended upon his work at the bench.

While he was a man much given to looking after his own affairs and forming few acquaintances, he ha many warm friends in the city among those with whom he had some in contact. He is well and kindly remembered by a circle of friends and acquaintances.
