Funeral of Christian Child on Tuesday

McCallsburg, Dec. 17 - Dorothy Eloise Christian, 10, who died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Christian near here Saturday, Dec. 11, was burled Tuesday. She was born Dec. 23, 1915 and died at the age of 10 years, 11 months, and 18 days, of encephalitis. Dorothy was taken ill on Sunday and from the first her condition was considered serious.

Several doctors were called for consultation but all to no avail. After a weeks intense suffering she died early Saturday .morning. Dorothy seemed to realize the end was near and, had.bid each member of the family goodbye and had just said her evening prayer before she died. She is survived by her father and mother, three sisters, and .four brothers, Orpha, Margaret, Joyce, Floyd, Robert, Boyd and Wayne.

The funerai was held Tuesday afternoon with a.short service at tho home followed by services at the Bergens church at Roland with Rev M. O. Sumstad officiating. The music was furnished by. Miss Tillie Anderson of Roland who sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and the girls of the slxth grade of the McCallsburg school, her class mates, sang "His Jewels." The sixth grade pupils attended the funeral in a body.

The-pall bearers, Hansell Christian, Marion Christian, Earl Erlcson, Hubert Christian, Leonard Christian, and Henry Erlcson were all cousins of Dorothy. The honorary pall bearers were six of her class mates, Violet Bergland, Mattle Brltson, Helen Young, Josephine Nelson, Corlne Stole, Vivian Hougan, while her Sunday school class of the Bergens church acted as flower girls.

The flowers were many and beautifill. Three pieces were sent by the school and represented all the grades. Burial was in the Roland cemetery.

Although the day was bitter cold, and the roads .icy a large number of relatives and friends gathered with the family to show them sympathy at this time of sorrow
