Funeral Services for Mrs. John Hickman

Funeral services for Mrs. John S. Hickman, 76, who died at her home here Sunday evening, were held Tuesday afternoon. There was a prayer service at the home after which the funeral party accompanied the body to Colo, where services were conducted at the Methodist church with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge, assisted by Rev. Scheuermann of that church.

Interment was in the Colo cemetery under the auspices of Isabelle Chapter O. E. S. of which the deceased was a member.

Nancy Rhodes Hickman was on of twelve children of John and Nancy Rhodes, born,, born May 18, 1858 at Bloomington, Piatt, Illinois.

Mrs. Hickman was a member of the Christian church of Bloomington in her girlhood Mrs. Hickman, who has been in failing health for two and a half years, and succumbed to a sudden heart attack at 6:45 p. m. Sunday evening, April 28, 1935, having reaching the age of 76 years, 10 months and 20 days. She has been a patient sufferer, always appreciative of everything done.

Nancy Rhodes was married to John S. Hickman, November 26, 1878 at Moweaqua, Macon county, Illinois. To this union was born seven children, Harritt Belle Stephens, Colo; Mary Elizabeth, deceased; George Marion of St. Anthony; Susie B. Robison, Nevada; Edith M. Jensen, Tama; John Edwin at home and Leona, deceased, besides two step children, Frank Hickman of Portland, Oregon and Anna Ewing of Long Beach, California. Fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Etta Schmidt of Ansley, Nebraska, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Hickman was a kindly neighbor and always willing to assist them in any way possible as long as her health permitted and was an ever devoted mother and wife, and will be missed by all. She was a member of Isabelle Chapter, order of Eastern Star, which had the burial services in charge.
