Wendy Szewczyk
March 24, 1973, to Jan. 8, 1994

Wendy Lynn (Raske) Szewczyk, 20, of Nevada died of cancer at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

She was born to Eric and Karon (Raske) Amtower in Iowa City. She was a 1990 graduate of Nevada High School and lived in Nevada for 19 years.
She was engaged to Jim Rivera of Nevada. She was a member of First Christian Church, Nevada. She was a student studying Hotel/Motel Management.

Survivors include her twin daughters, Jennifer and Cassandra Szewczyk of Perry; her mother and stepfather, Karon and Eric Amtower of Nevada; her maternal grandparents, Lyle and Eva Raske of Nevada; her paternal grandmother, Rose Marie Amtower of Manhattan, Kan.; her great-grandmother, Anna Raske of Zearing; and her fiance, Jim Rivera of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her Grandfather Amtower, her Great Grandparents Silvest and her Great Grandfather Raske.

Funeral services will be held today (Jan. 13) at First Christian Church, Nevada, with Dr. Fred C. Danforth officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
