Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Lois May Sevde Stone Durby, 90, of Roland passed away on February 20, 2019 at Bethany Life in Story City. Funeral services will be Tuesday February 26 at 11:00 am at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will follow in the Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.

Lois was born on April 17, 1928 in rural Roland to Otis and Ruth (Grindem) Sevde. She lived on the family farm NW of Roland until the age of 10, when the family moved to Roland. Lois married Clayton on in January of 1945. He passed away on November 2, 1962. She then married Ben Durby on March 17, 1968. He passed away on November 28, 1994.

During most of her adult life Lois was self-employed. There wasn’t a job she wouldn’t tackle. She cleaned houses, wall papered and painted. Lois made friends where she went and loved to give and get hugs from everyone. Lois loved to travel and made two trips to Norway and many trips to both coasts to visit friends and family. She also loved bowling. Lois belonged to leagues and also accompanied Ben his leagues. After retirement, Lois decided that she wanted to get her GED and in 2002, she achieved that goal at the age of 74. She lived in Roland until moving to Timberland Village in December of 2014.

Lois is survived by her loving children, Dennis Stone, Steven (Elaine) Stone, Larry (Judy) Stone, Debra (Curt) Olive and Susan (Mark) Clarridge; grandchildren, Clint (Tawnya) Stone, Dena Stone Eischen, Jeremy (Amanda) Stone, Tracey (TJ) Glenn, Alisa (Jeff) Scott, Matt (Becca) Stone, Nathan Olive, Reggie Olive, Jessica Hampton, Andrew Clarridge, Spencer Clarridge, Lori Harriman and Scott Harriman; great grandchildren, Katie Stone, Caleb Stone, Kylie Eischen, Henry Eischen, Chase Stone, Peyton Stone, Riley Stone, Cameron Glenn, Evelyn Scott, Kathryn Scott, Kenley Stone, Hannah Stone, Griffin Olive, Samantha Olive, Sydney Olive, Elijah Belle, Aron Hampton, Richard Hampton, Kelsie Clarridge, Brittney Harriman and Dustin Kooker; a great-great grandchild, Mila Kooker; a sister, Ruby (Chuck) Matheason and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clayton Stone and Ben Durby; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Stone, a great grandson, Nicolas Olive; two sisters, Ethyl Burke and Betty Sobotka and brothers, Robert, Lester and Jerry Sevde.

Memorials may be made to Bergen Lutheran Church.
