OBITUARY

R. H. RODEARMEL

The funeral of the late R. H. Rodearmel, in recent years of Minneapolis but formerly of Nevada, was conducted Friday afternoon from the Morfoot undertaking rooms by Rev. F. R. Shirk of the Lutheran church. The body was accompanied on this last journey by his brother, M. G. Rodearmel of Minneapolis and his son-in-law, Ed. Burton of Chicago. The interment was in the Rodearmel lot in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased was born May 4, 1842, at Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, and died October 5, 1915, at Minneapolis, age 73 years, 5 months and 1 day. He is survived by his widow and his daughter, Mrs. Maud Burton; his one son, Jake, died about eighteen years ago in Texas.

The data we can get for an obituary notice is quite fragmentary. The Rhodearmels came to Nevada in the early 70's and remained here about seventeen years. During this period Mr. Rodearmel was one of the most active citizens of the community. He was bright, talented, ran the Watchman newspaper for two different periods, served, we think, one term as constable in a time when constables had something to do, was a Democratic candidate for register of the state land office and generally had the faculty of being heard from. He was gone from this community, save for one or two short visits for more than a quarter of a century, and it is only the old-timers that will remember him; but they remember him well and favorably. Mrs. S. E. Ogden was his sister, and her son E. S. Ogden, is the only one of those related to him and yet remaining here; but there was a time when everybody knew "Bob" and his younger brother "Mont."

In this connection it may be noted that M. G. Rodearmel, who came here accompanying his brother's body, left his wife seriously ill at Minneapolis.

F. S. Ogden a the local representative of the family desires on his own part and that of the others of the family to express their united thanks for kindness manifested upon the occasion of the return and burial of Mr. Rhodearmel.
