OBITUARIES

Ethyle Blanche Rorem

Oct. 25, 1897, to Oct. 8, 1998

Ethyle Blanche Rorem, 100, of Sun City Ariz. died of heart failure, Oct. 8 at the Good Shepherd Retirement Care Center where she had been a resident since 1997.

Rorem was born Oct. 25, 1897, in Ames to Henry and Rebecca (Lee) Corkins. After her mother died she was raised by an aunt, Mary Jane Henderson who lived in Ellsworth.

She married Dr. George Ostem in 1918 and moved to Neada in 1921. When her husband died in October of 1950, she married Elmer Rorem in 1957 and remained in Nevada until 1972 when she moved to Sun City.

Rorem was a homemaker and a member of the United Church of Sun City, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Rorem is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ostrem of Peoria, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m., at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with the Rev. Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
