Joseph Paul Kash of Colo, Iowa passed away due to natural causes in his home on January 27, 2019.

Joseph ("Joe") was born the third child of eight to Norbert and Martha (Hopkins) Kash on May 10, 1957 in Waterloo, Iowa. He attended school in Colo, Iowa, Mount Prospect, Illinois and graduated high school in Saunemin, Illinois. After high school, Joe served as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise when he discovered a love for travel. Upon his honorable discharge, Joe earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and his Masters Degree in International Business, Finance and Economics from the world renowned American Graduate School of International Business in Phoenix, Arizona. Joe was fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and was familiar with the Spanish language.

Joe was a banker at the Bank of Nova Scotia but his professional career was cut short when he became ill during a business trip to Asia in the late 1980s. Since recovery, Joe lived in Colo, Iowa where he was active at St Mary's Catholic Church, Lions Club, and The American Legion. Despite all of his global travels, Joe considered Colo the "Center of the Universe" and always had a friendly wave and a smile to people he knew.

Joe's mother, father, older brother Timmy, and his fiancé, Glenna Herron, preceded him in death. He is survived by his siblings Patrick Kash, Angela Krainik, Anthony Kash, Monica Kash, Meg Lassarat and Rose Cheke as well as nieces and nephews Elizabeth Fischer, Joni Nightingale, Megan Brue, Kristine Kash, Julia Lassarat, Emily Kash, Charlotte Lassarat, Patrick Cheke, Nicholas Cheke, Zachary Cheke, Harper Nightingale, Brady Nightingale, Kashton Brue, Sebastian Fischer, Vincent Fischer, and Gentry Brue.

Joseph's memorial mass will be at St Mary's Church in Colo, Iowa on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m. and the memorial mass will immediately follow visitation and begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the St James Cemetery in Colo, Iowa. After the committal service, guests are invited to a reception at the St Mary's Church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saint Mary's Alter Society in Colo, Iowa and the Lion's Club of Colo, Iowa.
