OBITUARY

Chas. E. Toot

Charles Edward Toot died near Nevada, Iowa January 30, 1915 aged 66 years, 10 months and 9 days. he was born at Gettysburg, Penn. March 21, 1848, came west about 1872 and settled in Story county 1879. Here he married Mrs. Carrie A. McIntosh* on March 9, 1890. He moved northeast of Nevada on a farm on which he resided until his death.

To this union were born nine children, Mrs. Pearl Toot of Alden, Minn., Frank Leslie, Clarence Emmett, Charles Simpson, Hazel Anna, Katie Annetta, Mary Janet, Benjamin Bedell, all at home. One dying in infancy. One brother, two sisters and two grand children survive him.

The funeral was held February 2nd in Fernald Lutheran church under the conduct of Rev. A. J. Kissel. The church was more than filled with sympathizing neighbors and friends. Interment was in the Murphey cemetery.

On page 8 captioned: COLO REPRESENTATIVE

Charles Toot died at his home near Fernald Saturday night. Funeral services were held today at the Lutheran church at Fernald. Blood poison was the cause of death. Mr. Toot has many friends at Colo who regret his untimely death and extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Carrie A. McIntosh" was Carrie Annetta Bedell. She married John Melvin McIntosh ca. 1885. He died on 3 June 1887 and she married Charles Edward Toot on 9 March 1890 in Maxwell, Story County, Iowa.
