POPULAR TEACHER CALLED BY DEATH

JOSIE DOLLIE SWENSON PASSED AWAY EARLY THIS MORNING

Josie Dollie Swenson, 30, daughter of Mrs. Betsey M. Swenson of 823 Second street, Nevada, died at the Deaconess hospital, Marshalltown, this morning at 2:40.

The announcement of the passing of this young woman came as a distinct surprise to members of the family and her many friends in Nevada and other parts of the county.

She had submitted to a mastoid operation Monday, September 23 and was apparently recovering satisfactorily until Thursday of last week, when complications arose which finally resulted in her death. She was given a blood transfusion on Tuesday of this week and another was to have been given her yesterday. Everything possible was done to save her life but in vain.

Miss Swenson, who had been known as a popular teacher in the rural schools of the county for a number of years, is survived by her mother Mrs. Betsey M. Swenson of Nevada, sisters Mrs. Emma Skovig of Webster City, Mrs. Bertha Hanson of Radcliffe, Miss Cecelia Swenson of Ames and Miss Birdella Swenson of Nevada and one brother Keneal K. Swenson of Nevada.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon and burial will be in the Nevada cemetery. There will be a prayer service at the home at 2:00 and the funeral at Memorial Lutheran church at 2:30.
