Pioneer Farmer Died at His Home Near Story City

Story City, June 22--Peter Chrisian Peterson, 88, passed at his home northwest of Story City, Saturday evening at 9:20 death being due to complications following a surgical operation performed a year ago.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 o'clock from the Grace Evangelical church in Story City following a short service at the Henderson Funeral Home at 1:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Story City.

Mr. Peterson was a native of Denmark where he was born on March 5, 1848. He came to Lee county, Illinois, the fall of 1872 and to a farm southwest of Story City in 1873. In 1881 he moved to the farm northwest of town where he lived until his death.

He was twice married, both wives having preceded him in death. Children surviving hem from his first marriage are Peter Peterson of Elmoe, Minn.; Mrs. Bernard Peterson of Charlotte Bayou, Texas, and Charlie Peterson of Montrose, S. D.

Five children of the second marriage survive him. They are Mrs. Soren Christensen of Stanhope, Lewis Peterson of Plusfield, Sask., Canada, Wm. and Caroline Peterson at home and Chris Peterson of Jasper Park, Alberta, Canada.
