DEATHS

Andrew J. Nelson

Funeral services for Andrew J. Nelson were held at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, with Masonic Rites.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson was soloist accompanied by Miss Louise Olson.

Pallbearers were Osmund Kalvik, Wayne Olson, Robert Hermanson, Robert Lekwa, Murl Smuck and Luther Matson. Interment was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Andrew Jorgenson Nelson, son of Andres and Marie Nelson, was born in Horsens, Denmark on March 13, 1884. He died at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Friday, April 14, at the age of 88 years, one moth and one day.

At the age of 19, he came to the United States with his mother. They lived in Chicago Ill. for several years and then moved to Story City. On Dec. 25, 1916, he was united in marriage to Clara Olson. Four children were born to this union: Arvin J. Nelson, Lillian E. Nelson, Marion E. Nelson and Andrew P. Nelson.

They lived in Yankton, S. Dak., and Bronson, Lawton, Galva, Hornick and McCallsburg, Iowa. Mr. Nelson managed grain elevators. They moved back to Story City in 1937 where he was engaged in the excavating business, until he retired in 1952.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Marion, and brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his wife Clara; daughter, Lillian Nelson of Butte, Mont.; two sons, Arvin and Andy Nelson, both of Story City; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Mayer, Fresno, Calif.
