FORMER NEVADA MAN BURIED TODAY

TOM MCDONALD DIED AT MARSHALLTOWN--INTEREST HERE TODAY

The body of Thomas McDonald, 57, former resident of this city, arrived her this morning from Marshalltown and was interred in the Nevada cemetery, after a short prayer by Father M. Nichols of St. Patrick's church.

McDonald who lived at 306 South First street, Marshalltown died Friday afternoon at St. Thomas hospital of carcinoma.

He had been in poor health for the last three months and was taken to the hospital seven weeks ago.

Mr. McDonald was born in Glasgow, Scotland, Dec. 22, 1870, and came to this country with his parents at the age of six months. They settled in Story county, near this city, shortly afterward moving into town, and his early boyhood was spent here. He attended Nevada high school and on Dec. 30, 1892, he was married to Olive Hallowell of Nevada. They farmed in this neighborhood for three years and then moved to Emmetsburg, where they lived for fifteen years. In 1911 they moved to Marshalltown where Mr. McDonald entered the employ of the T. C. Cartwright Lumber Company, now the T. H. Knutson Lumber Company, in whose employ he remained until his last illness. He was a member of the Brotherhood of American Yeoman and the American Legion Dads.

Besides his widow he is survived by three sons, James R. McDonald, of Des Moines, a twin, Jay, who is inn a hospital suffering from troubles resulting from his service in the World War, and S. Thomas McDonald, of Sioux City and a sister, Mrs. Samuel Harter, also of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock today from St. Mary's church, in Marshalltown, in charge of Rev. Father William Leen.
