Katherine Marvick Rites Held June 3

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Marvick, 86, were held in the St. Petri Lutheran Church chapel on Friday afternoon, June 3 at 2 p.m. Rev. George C. Strum officiated. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson accompanied Walter Lund who sang "In Heaven Above" and "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name." Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Marvick was born in Kristiansund, Norway on April 11, 1874, the daughter of Ole and Martha Jemme. She came to America in 1895 and taught religious school in Hatton, Maryland. She was united in marriage to Louis Marvick on September 29, 1897.

She and her husband served parishes in Hatton, North Dakota; Ashland, Wisconsin; Houston, Minnesota; LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Black River Falls, Wisconsin and Toledo, Ohio. Pastor Marvick served as chaplain at a hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He served as secretary of the Eastern District for 12 years.

Mrs. Marvick served many time as aid president and Sunday school superintendent as well as president of the Michigan Circuit of the WMF.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Laurentia Watson of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Magnus Jemme of St. Paul, Minn., and one sister in Norway. One daughter, Katherine died in infancy and her husband, Pastor Lewis Marvick preceded her in death in 1951.
