MALLORY CHILD'S DEATH A MYSTERY

HAD BEEN IN BEST OF HEALTH UNTIL ATTACKED BY POISONING.

Poisoning from some mysterious source was probably the cause of death of little Inez June Mallory, age 2 years, who passed away at Iowa sanitarium Monday night at nine o'clock. Funeral services were held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mallory southeast of Ames this afternoon at two o'clock, after which interment was in the Nevada cemetery. The services were conducted by Dr. R. M. Shipman of Trinity church, Des Moines, former pastor of the family.

The case is one of mystery. The child had been in the best of health until Monday morning when a slight fever developed and she was brought by the father to the office of local physician. She was taken to the sanitarium for observation and later in the day her right limb became inflamed and began to swell, while her temperature rose to 107. Death came at 9 o'clock.

While there was not sufficient opportunity to observe the case to determine the source of the probable poison it is thought possible that some poison my have entered the system through a slight abrasion on her right heel.

Inez June, born March 5, 1922, was an exceptionally bright and lovable child and had always been in the best of health and spirits. Her sudden taking away has been a severe shock to the parents and other relatives, as well as many friends of the family.
