Obituary

John Lundy son of Thomas Lundy and wife, was born on the 28th day of January 1864, near Savanna in Carrol county, Illinois. He passed away at 2:00 p. m. on the 15th day of August, 1951, at the Moyer Nursing home in Perry, iowa, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 18 days. He grew to manhood on the same farm were he was born.

While attending school at Fulton, Illinois, he met Lutie A. Tabor of Baldwin, Iowa, also a student at the same school. On the 17th of February, 1890, they were united in marriage in the town Maquoketa, Iowa. To this union was born three children, T. G. Lundy of Zearing, Leah A., who died in infancy, and Lola M. (Mrs. M. D. Johnson) of Roland.

They first established their home in Illinois, but later moved to Jackson county, Iowa, where they spent the next few years in various places. In January, 1901, they moved to Story county, living on various farms until the year of 1917, when they moved to Nevada and there made their home until the death of Mrs. Lundy in March, 1942.

Mr. Lundy continued to make his home in Nevada until May, 1950, when he disposed of his home and entered the Sunset Home in Story City. There he enjoyed reasonably good health, until January of this year, when various complications, incident to old age, began to set in, finally resulting in his death.

He was a longtime member of the Masonic Fraternity, having received a fifty-year certificate in 1944. His greatest enjoyment was farming being interested in all of its phases. His advice on business matters was sound and was much sought after by others.

He is survived by his son T. G. and daughter Lola M. Johnson, five grandchildren five great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends. One grandson, Robert Johnson passed away in May, 1933. Another grandson, Larry Johnson, now in the armed forces, is unable to be here today. Thus, briefly, is the summary of a long life.

Relatives were here from Illinois and Maquoketa, Iowa.
