DEATHS
Funeral services for Mrs. Irvin Lund were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, west of Story City on Tuesday afternoon, October 24 at 2 p.m.
The Rev. Enoch Hall officiated at the services with assisting pastors Rev. Lawrence Mathre, Northfield, Minn. and the Rev. Paul Munson, Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Emmett Olson was organist and Walter Lund, soloist. Interment was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene Westre, Clarence Hove, Sterling Nelson, Sherman Swenson, Hawley Peterson and Clarence Johnson.
Mrs. Irvin O. (Josie) Lund, daughter of Thomas K. and Betsy Charlson Thompson was born in Story County on May 12, 1900 and died at her home, northwest of Story City on October 20th.
She was confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church at Roland and graduated from the Story City High school with the class of 1919. On September 22, 1922 she was united in marriage to Irvin O. Lund. The Rev. G.O. Paulsrud officiated at the ceremony in Story City. To this union a son, Joseph Irvin was born, who died in infancy. A daughter, Mary Jane, was adopted.
Mrs. Lund was a member to St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Jewell and was an active member of its Women's Missionary society as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Clara Thompson and a brother, Irving Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, Irvin, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Johnson of Waterloo, four grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Ida Peterson of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Mabel Sande, Miss Bertha Thompson and Miss Olive Thompson, all of Long Beach, Calif. and Miss Lillian Glannon of Jewell.
