Collins--Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Lafferty were held at the Collins Church of Christ on Friday, Sept. 3 with the Rev. Lee Hankins officiating.
Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Wanda Carlson, Mary Tomlinson, Lowell Holme and Tom Huntods with Mrs. Florence Mead a the piano.
The many beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Maurice Noring, Mrs. Fred Anderson and Mrs. S. T. Hyatt.
The casket bearers were Fred Anderson, Clyde McCord, Maurice Noring, Tim Shickell, Harold Sinnott and William Sinnott.
Burial was in Evergreen Hill cemetery by the side of the two sons who preceded her in death.
Obituary
Cora Estella Williams, daughter of Mary and Richard Williams, was born December 15, 1876 near Collins and passed away Sept. 1, 1954 at Story County hospital in Nevada at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 7 days.
She was united in marriage to John Lafferty on March 29, 1905. To this union nine children were born. Surviving are four sons: Floyd of Des Moines, Ronald of San Fernando, Calif., Forrest and Ray at home; three daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Thayne Evans) of Nevada, Velma (Mrs. Ted Richardson) of Nevada and Vesta at home. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ralph Handsaker of Colo; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and two sons.
Mrs. Lafferty was a member of the Loyal Daughters Sunday school class of the Collins Church of Christ; the township farm women and the Collins American Legion Auxiliary.
She lived her entire life in Collins and with her passing, Collins loses another of its pioneer citizens.
