Obituary
Anne-Tine (Tena) Nelson, daughter of Nels Jorgen and Christiane Nelson, was born June 17, 1876 on the farmstead near Nevada, where she passed away Thursday morning, May 17, 1951.
She grew to girlhood in this same neighborhood, receiving her education in the rural schools near her home. When she was of college age she took the entrance examinations which were required at that time and entered Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines.
Upon her graduation from college she went to work as a secretary in St. Paul, Minn.
It was in St. Paul that she met her future husband, Frank H. Kinsman, and on August 28, 1906, they were married at her parental home in Nevada.
They established their first home at the farm where she was born, living there for several years before moving to the farm one half mile north. About 18 years ago they moved to their present home. There, 12 weeks to the day and hour of her husband's death, she followed him to her final rest, leaving the daughters bereft in three short months of both mother and father.
There were children born to their union, Mildred, wife of Lyle McConnell, Evelyn at home and Kenneth, who preceded his parents in death on January 16, 1934. There are five grandchildren, Terry, Max, Frank, Meredith and Lois McConnell and one great grandchild, John Steven McConnell.
These, left to mourn her loss, will remember always her gentle ways and loving service and treasure the memory of her ready laughter as well as her tender love. Two brothers, Henry and Fred W. Nelson and a sister, Laura, Mrs. Emiel Hansen, preceded her in death. There are two nieces and four nephews, a great many cousins and an innumerable host of friends who will feel her loss most deeply.
Mrs. Kinsman joined the Nevada Methodist church, with her husband, in 1906 under the ministry of the Rev. R. E. Shaw. She was a member of the Loyal Sisters Sunday school class, a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the R.E.K. club.
