Funeral Services Held Friday For Mrs. Clara Kammin

Story City, Nov. 26--Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Grace Evangelical United Brethren church in Story City for Mrs. Clara Kammin whose death occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 18. This was preceded by a prayer service at the home at 1:30. The Rev. W. E. Ulrich officiated and burial was in the Center Cemetery, southwest of Story City.

Arnold and Vernon Adnerson, Mrs. John Howell and Mrs. Luther Matson comprised a quartet which sang two numbers at the church.

Serving as casket bearers were Hans S. Nelson, Nels P. Larson, Lloyd Valline, John Malmanger, Henry Bickelhaupt and Guy Heers.

Clara Caroline Reischauer, the daughter of Frederick and Augusta Reischauer, was born March 27, 1872, northeast of Ames in Story county. She departed from this life on Nov. 18, 1947, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 22 days. Clara Reischauer was baptized Oct. 19, 1879, in the Lutheran church near Mackey by Rev. L. P. Geuenther.

On Jan. 21, 1897, she was united in marriage with Henry Kammin at Boone. There was born to this union five children Charles, Edna, Hazel and Raymond and one boy who died in infancy.

Mrs. Kammin united with the Evangelica church in Story City June 25, 1916, under the pastorate of Rev. C. D. Wendell. She was faithful in her attendance at the services of this church so long as she was physically able. It became on of her deepest regrets when it was no longer possible for her to be in regular attendance at worship on Sunday morning.

During Clara Reischauer's childhood the family moved to the old Reischauer farm northwest of Story City where Millard Lee now lives. During the first two years of their married life Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kammin lived near Mackey. They then moved to the old Kammin home where Raymond now lives and were Mrs. Kammin lived for 38 years. Her husband died April 2, 1930. Mrs. Kammin moved to Story City ten years ago where she lived the balance of her life.

Mrs. Kammin enjoyed good health until about four years ago when it became necessary for her have a major operation and since which time she never regained full health. She fell at her home on Sept. 3 of this year and broke a hip. She was taken to Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where she spent her last days. Mrs. Kammin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters and two brothers.

Those who survive her passing are two sons, Charles and Raymond Kammin and two daughters, Mrs. Edna (Clarence) James and Mrs. Hazel (Helge) Johnson all of Story City; a sister, Mrs. Ella Grove of Jewell; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
