Mrs. Sena Johnson

Mrs. Sena Jensen Johnson, daughter of Nels and Karen Jensen was born June 10, 1882 in Copenhagen, Denmark and passed away June 19, 1974 at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames, Iowa.

She was baptized and confirmed in Denmark. When about 14 years of age she came to America with her parent and they settled in Iowa, and eventually came to Story County.

On December 7, 1903 she was united in marriage to John M. Johnson at Nevada, Iowa, and they set up housekeeping on a farm west of Story City. Sena was a faithful and active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Story City since 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband, John (in 1959) also by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Those who survive are 5 sons and 3 daughters: Mrs. Gordon (Freda) Hoffman, Mrs. Max (Mamie) Tevebugh [sic], Leo Johnson and Delbert Johnson all of Ames, Kenneth Johnson of Des Moines, Mrs. Ida Disbrowe, Leonard M. Johnson and Milford Johnson, all of Story City, also 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss her quiet and gentle ways.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 21, 1974 at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, Story City, Iowa, with the Rev. Pal H. Beckman, and the Rev. F. E. Peters of Ames officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle, organist, accompanied Mrs. Paul Nelson and Mrs. Charles Jewell as the sang "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Mrs. Johnson's 10 grandsons, David Disbrowe, Mike Disbrowe, James Hoffman, Darwin Johnson, Charles Johnson, Steve Disbrowe, Gerald Johnson, Roland Johns, Larry Johnson and John Johnson.
