DEATHS

Sina Amalie Heggen, daughter of Simon and Martha Storesund was born at Karmoy, Haugesund, Norway on May 2, 1879 and died at the Story City Bethany Manor on March 30 following an illness of three months. She was baptized and confirmed in Torvestad Church and received her childhood education in the public school at Karmoy, Norway.

She was engaged as a governess in the home of Pastor Rasmussen at Avaldsnes, Karmoy until she came to the United States with her sister, Olava in 1899. On August 20, 1902 she was married to John T. Heggen in the Bethel Lutheran Church, Story City by Rev. G. O. Palsrud where she had been a active member in the affairs of the congregation.

She served for some years, together with her husband, as superintendent and matron of Story City Old Peoples Home, now Bethany Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers and her husband, John in January 1966.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Randolph (Marie) Kallem and son-in-law of Jewell and many nieces and nephews.

A short service was in charge of Chaplain M. C. Hegedorn at 10 a.m. at Bethany Manor and 2 p.m. in Bethel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 2. Pastor William Gregerson officiated at the Bethel services. Pastor Pernie C. Pederson, superintendent of Bethany Manor brought a greeting.

Mrs. Homer Olson and Mrs. Ray Romsey sang two favorite hymns accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Bert Stensland. Pallbearers were Orville Olson, Elmer Olson, Lars Kalvik, Herman Olson, Bert Stensland and Carter Sparboe. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
