DEATHS

MRS. HERBERT HALLELAND

Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert (Lillian) Halleland were held Monday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Pastor William A. Gregerson officiated; Pastor A. J. Bringle brought a message of comfort; and Pastor Ramon Runkle, nephew of the deceased, officiated at the prayer service for the family.

The organist, Lloyd Lockhart, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Tomas Holm of Ankeny.

Interment was the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Casket bearers were Harvey Skeie, James Peterson, Kenneth Skeie, Richard Teigland, Lloyd Oakland, and Albert Holt.

Lillian Ida Skeie Halleland, daughter of Sven and Lizzie Skeie, was born May 18, 1902 on a farm in Hamilton county. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall.

On March 30, 1924, she was united in marriage to Herbert Halleland of Story City. They lived nearly all their married life in Randall.

Before her marriage, she taught school; then spent several years in nurses training, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Since her marriage, she was actively engaged with her husband in the Randall Lumber company at Randall. She was always an active member in her church and community.

Mrs. Halleland died at the Story City Memorial Hospital Saturday morning, Sept. 5th following a 2 1/2 month's illness, at the age of 68 years.

Surviving are her husband, Herbert; four children, Mrs. B. W. Brekken, Wilmette, Ill., Herbert Halleland Jr. of Blairsburg, Mrs. William Gabrielson, Story City, and John Halleland of Randall; 12 grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Martha Nordskog, Mrs. Melinda Hoversten, Mrs. Olive Hill and Sylvan Skeie, all of Story City.

Her parents, a sister and a brother have preceded her in death.
