Life History Of L. Milo Hall Born in Collins
L. Milo Hall, son of James and Mary Jane Hall, was born at Collins, Iowa, April 6, 1891, and died at Nevada, Iowa, October 22, 1953, at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 16 days.
During his boyhood he attended the Collins High School and later Leander Clark College at Toledo, Iowa. He was associated for a number of years with his father, J. M. Hall, in the mercantile business and later conducted a mercantile establishment of his own at Collins.
Married in Nevada
He was married in Nevada, June 5, 1927 to Eleanor Tummel. They have one daughter, Patricia Jane Hall, a freshman student at Iowa State Teachers' college, Cedar Falls.
Beginning in the year of 1930 he was exclusively engaged in the insurance business at Collins and later at Nevada, where he established an extensive and successful agency and was better known in the business world in that capacity.
Mr. Hall was a member of the Nevada Methodist church, the American Legion, Nevada Community Club and was present superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school.
He had served for several terms as mayor of Collins and was a member of Fervent Lodge No. 513, A. F. & A. M.
Surviving him are the wife Eleanor and daughter Patricia Jane, one brother, Charles H. Hall of Nevada, and two sisters, Mrs. O. G. Smith of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. M. H. Biddick of Marion.
Services Held
The funeral services were held from the Ryan Funeral Home at Nevada on Saturday, October 24th, in charge of Dr. R. M. Shipman of Ames, a former pastor at Nevada. The beautiful organ recordings by Loren Whitney provided the music. The pallbearers were Frank Ambrose, Robert Dana, C. L. Gifford, Frank Lounsberry, Ray McDaniel and F. C. Tarman. The flowers were cared for by Miss Jean Atherton and Miss Jean Fogarty, classmates of Patricia Hall at Cedar Falls.
The funeral was largely attended by friends and relatives from Nevada, Collins, Maxwell, State Center, Colo, Ames, Cedar Rapids, Marion, Des Moines, Dunkerton, Iowa City, Monticello, Huxley, Jamaica, Melbourne, Bondurant, Cedar Falls and possibly others.
