Last Rites For Mrs. Jane Erickson
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Bergen Lutheran church for the late Mrs. Jane Erickson of Nevada, former Roland resident who passed away Saturday morning in the Story County hospital with the Rev. Windman of Nevada and the Rev. Nelson and Rev. Holen of Roland officiating. Prayer services were held at 1:30 at the Erickson funeral home.
Burial was made in the Roland cemetery.
Obituary
Jane R. Christian, daughter of the late Ole and Jorna Christian was born on the old Christian homestead three miles south of Roland, June 14, 1834, and has been a life-long resident of Story county. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran church where she was a member until she moved to Nevada and transferred to the Memorial Lutheran church.
On March 11, 1907, Jane was united in marriage to Henry J. Erickson. To this union one son, Henry, was born. Mrs. Erickson passed away Oct. 26, 1908.
In 1940, Mrs. Erickson and her son Henry moved from Roland to Nevada, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Erickson's health has been failing for several years, and on Jan. 13, 1953, she was admitted to the Story County hospital where she passed away at 2:45 a.m. Jan. 24, 1953 at the age of 66 years, seven months and 10 days.
Besides her son Henry, Mrs. Erickson is survived by three brothers, J. M. Christian of Roland, Albert Christian of St. Peter, Minn., and Henry Christian of Kenyon, Minn. Two sisters are Mrs. Alice Munson of Story City, Mrs. Emma Erickson of Roland and many other relatives. Four brothers preceded her in death--Cass, Tom, Charles and her twin brother Olaf.
