MARY LOUISE MAY
January 26, 1935 ˜ September 19, 2018

Mary Louise May, 83, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on September 19, 2018 with family by her side. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Princeton, IL to John and Mildred Velker.

After high school, Mary worked at Monroe Chevrolet and became friends with Art, who managed the NAPA auto parts store. Art was drafted into the Army and on one of his leaves, the two got married. Art and Mary owned several NAPA stores throughout their married life. Mary kept the books and was an integral part of the business.

Art and Mary lived in Princeton, IL, then relocated to Nevada, IA for a work change. After many years, they followed their son Norman to Vancouver and have lived there for the past 31 years.

Mary enjoyed traveling around the country, crafting, country music, and her pets. She made beautiful painted ceramic figurines and knitted scarves, sweaters and other items. She was a magnet for gathering people together to do fun activities such as rubber stamping, making chocolate candies and playing games, such as Mexican train.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Art; sons, Ed (Maria) and Norman (Donna); grandchildren, Todd (Heather), Andy, Joel and Sarah; and great-granddaughter, Abigail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred; brother, Donald; and sisters, Shirley and Linda.

A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA, October 5, 2018 at 10 a.m.
