Evelyn Christensen, 99, of McCallsburg, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Northridge Village in Ames, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa. Funeral service for Evelyn will be on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, Iowa.

Evelyn was born on October 15, 1919 in rural Storm Lake, Iowa to Oscar and Rose (Petersen) Willadsen. She was baptized and confirmed at Nain Lutheran Church at Newell, Iowa where she participated in many church functions and sang in the choir. Evelyn graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and Buena Vista College. She went on to Drake University where she earned her bachelor's degree in science. In 1943 Evelyn married Clifford Christensen in Newell. To this union two children were born. She taught school at Lincoln Lee Cons, near Albert City for 5 years before relocating to McCallsburg, Iowa where she taught for 25 years. Evelyn retired in 1984. In addition to her teaching she was also a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was active in the choir. She belonged to the Ladies Circle and was known for embroidering Christmas stockings and dish towels sets for Bethany's annual kumla dinner/auction. Evelyn endeared herself to many through her years of teaching and community activities. Her family, their seasonal celebrations, and friends were also very important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Evelyn is survived by her children Kirby Christensen of McCallsburg, IA, and Dixie (Alan) Jones of Forrest City, IA; grandchildren Tonya (Dan) Milejczak of Foley, MN, and Brad (Sherri) Jones of Forest City, IA; great-grandchildren Holly, Jake, Evan, and Isaac Milejczak, Jaxon, Lyndee, and Keevan Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, brother Leo Willadsen, and sister Ardeth Kreft.
