Kathlynn May Krausman, 92, of Collins, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Windsor Manor in Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22nd, at the United Methodist Church in Collins with Pastor Doug Harding officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Kathlynn “Katie” May Dennis was born on October 7, 1926 at her grandmother’s home in Snailwell, England, the daughter of William Henry and Phyllis Enid (Sayers) Dennis. She was the oldest of five daughters. Katie was serving as an orderly in the Royal Armed Services when she met her future husband Louie A. Krausman, Jr. from Maxwell, Iowa, who was stationed nearby at the Fowlmere Airfield. They were married on August 11, 1945 in Harlton, Cambridgeshire, England. Katie followed her new husband to the United States after the war. They settled in Collins, Iowa where they made their home and raised 4 sons and 1 daughter.

Katie worked for the Collins School and Collins-Maxwell School District, retiring after 23 years. She was long-time member of the Collins United Methodist Church and served in numerous capacities. She was very devoted to her husband and her children. She and Louie loved visiting their children and grandchildren. They traveled extensively to all 4 corners of Iowa and many places in the Midwest, as well as Colorado. After her husband passed away in 2006, she continued to live Collins until 2017 when she moved to Windsor Manor in Nevada, Iowa, and she loved visiting with old friends as well as new friends. She was always found at the Bingo and Jeopardy tables.

Katie is survived by her four sons, Dennis (Carol) Krausman of Lone Tree, Colorado; Ken (Vicki) Krausman of Collins, Iowa; Terry (Aggie) Krausman of Ames, Iowa; Mark (Jan) Krausman of Nevada, Iowa and daughter, Doreen (Roger) Callender of Bloomington, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister Cynthia Dowling of England and numerous nephews and nieces both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters (Heather, Edna, Stella) all of England.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 21st from 3 to 5 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Collins.

Memorials contributions may be made to the Collins United Methodist Church Trustees.
