Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Anna Mae Thiel 91, of Ames died October 9, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 13, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday, October 12, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Anna Mae Thiel was born July 11, 1927 in Neoga, Ill to Audie and Ona (Allen) Murray. Anna Mae graduated from Doniphan High School in Missouri. She met Dean Thiel at a dance in Ames at the American Legion and they were married soon after in Doniphan Missouri on December 27, 1948. Anna Mae worked for 22 years in food service for the Ames Public Schools. She was a 50 year member of First United Methodist Church in Ames were she volunteered baking pies and making lap robes. She enjoyed knitting supporting local bands and dancing.

Anna Mae is survived by her children, Linda (David) Massarini of Nevada, Nancy (Howard) Nord of Ames, Denny (Karen) Thiel of Nevada, Scott (Gail) Thiel of Boone; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Israel Family Hospice House for the kindness and compassion that they showed their mother.
