DEATHS

Funeral services for Iver Egenes were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 28 in Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev. C. L. Fuller in charge. Mrs. Paul Nelson and Mrs. Charles Jewell sang to duet numbers, "Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art." Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle was at the organ.

Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Robert Smyth, Donald Thompson, Leslie Thompson, Arnold Jacobson, Elmer Jensen and Leonard Johnson. Honorary pall bearers were Sheldon Williams, John Ose, O. L. Jamison, Magne Idse, Embert Munsen and Richard Peterson.

In memory of Mr. Egenes, an amplifying system at Grace E.U.B. Church has been set up as a memorial fund.

Iver Andrew Egenes, son of John and Emma Louise Egenes, was born at Story City on February 24, 1893 and died at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames, on June 26 at the age of 74. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.

On July 27, 1912, he was united in marriage to Marie Svenson at Chicago, Ill. To this union two sons were born, Hubert and John, and a daughter Dorothy Ann (Mrs. Emmett Olson) of Jewell.

Several other youth were given place in the Egenes home, Hazel Thompson, Maud and Sharon Swenson.

Mr. and Mrs. Egenes united with the Grace EUB Church during the pastorate of Rev. C. D. Wendell and have been faithful members since Egenes had served on the building committee of the church for the new parsonage and the new church. He was one time treasurer, trustee and had held other positions as well. In the Iowa Conference, he served on several committees and commissions and as a member at large on the Council of Administration, Secretary of Salaries Committee and on many occasions was Conference photographer.

He was a lover of flowers and did much to beautify the interior of the church with tropical flowers and ferns.

He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Hubert, Lt. Col., who was killed in combat during WWII, a brother, Julius Egenes.

Survivors are his wife, Marie, a son, John of Story City, his daughter, Dorothy Ann Olson of Jewell; three grandchildren, two brothers and three sister, Mrs. George Thompson of Grand Meadow, Minn., Byron Egenes, San Gabriel, California, Mrs. William Hensel of Auburn, Ia., Harold Egenes, La Grange Park, Ill. and Mrs. Lowell Nevelyn, Galesburg, Ill.
